Well I saw some cute earrings on a flicker picture. They are really easy to make. I have seen ones similar before. Two red beads, round ones, on silver T pins. Then above is a green glass leaf bead with a pin through it. Hanging from a silver wire earring. The beads are all transparent.

Lately, I’ve noticed marshmallows being used in the creation of all sorts of edible goodies, and I’m completely blown away by the versatility of such an inexpensive grocery store find.

I mean, whoever thought of placing a marshmallow on a stick and breathing life into it with a few simple decorating tricks?

Ingenious!

Not only are they the epitome of cuteness, but so easy to make, even the kids can get in on the action.

I’m talkin’ super easy!

To create these cupcake-esque marshmallow pops, you will need the following items:

Large strawberry-flavored marshmallows
Dark chocolate candy melts
Lollipop sticks
Nonpareils-sprinkles
Red candies (Red Hots, M&M’s, etc.)
Styrofoam rectangle
Ribbon (optional)

Insert lollipop sticks into marshmallow centers and set aside (I enlisted the help of my daughter for this particular step).

Melt chocolate pieces in double boiler, stirring frequently. Dip marshmallow tips in chocolate sauce. Repeat if necessary for even coverage.

Immediately sprinkle pops with nonpareils and top with a single red candy. Use foam base to keep them upright while drying.

Tying ribbon around each stick is entirely optional. However, those dainty little bows add an undeniable touch of pizazz to an already appealing treat.

See, super easy!

The best part of all?

For around ten dollars, you’ve got enough marshmallow cuties to satisfy several sweet-toothed snackers!

I just finished another set of learning records. It’s late and I am tired. I still have to scan and file all the Logs and Samples. Then get LA benchmark tests ready to go. And get the Tier one and two binder ready.

I clicked on a link while I was on the Graphics Fairy page and I couldn’t stop laughing. I ended up on a blog called Craft Fail-Don’t get your cowl in a twist.Then knit and felt basket and felted balls. I was trying not to wake up MDH who is recovering from appendicitis surgery. I’ll add a picture below. The stories are what’s funny or maybe I’m just tired. I can definitely relate having had some bloopers myself!!!! And there is one called Cake Wrecks also. I had to stop reading lest I wake my poor sweetie up. I am posting this here in case I need a good laugh in the future!!!!

Monday I went to the Bay Area to see BJ and finished quilting a baby quilt and delivered it too.. Tuesday I sewed all day (see last blog entry) and went to a friend’s for dinner. Rob got a big surprise a Koa wood G-5 Thompson guitar. (I also have trouble phrasing my Starbucks order without leaving something out) Wednesday I went to the Dr. and sewed a “sock” for the Plantar-Fasciitis. And I sewed all the snowball blocks for Cameron’s Christmas quilt. Thursday I gave the feet a break and cut out squares to go in the quilt.. Friday I got flannel for $1.49 a yard for backing (I used what I had for the alternating squares of the top). And more for a flannel baby blanket for a little one born on Good Friday! And I messed up my office. Saturday I got Rob breakfast and made a sandwich for him to take on a hike. I went garage “sailing” and worked in the garage. Took stuff to Goodwill. Found treasures of course. Then watched Leilani while working in the garage til 9:30. Oh, I made spaghetti for dinner, and went to walmart for something Rob needed. Sunday flew by. Oh, I can hardly wait til May 25th. And the baby who should arrive by then too.

More than Ideas

So, I actually did something yesterday. I finished Leilani’s bunny dress, made two ironing board covers, made an ”inside out” flannel baby blanket, and made Cameron’s “Cars” pillow case that I have been promising him. I did do a few loads of wash too.

Today, however I should get recycle ready to go, deposit Kat’s check in the bank, mail a package to mom with the yarn for the new baby’s blanket and her ironing board cover and call the Dr. to make an appointment to find out what’s wrong with me! I don’t want to check my email but maybe I should. Ok, here I go! Ad silly me I didn’t take any pictures, maybe later.

I was hungry tonight. I had coffee in the morning, forgot breakfast. Started making applesauce, then made apple pancakes and ate one with applesauce and whip cream. Then had some Starbucks on my way to San Jose. I arrived dizzy with low blood sugar. There were delicious apricot, ginger sausage and potato and onions. Mmmm…. That seemed to do the trick. I’m fine now.

Monday was nice and I stayed home almost all day except to get printer ink in the morning and maybe Walmart. Tuesday, however, was not so fun. I gathered up all my things to meet with three students during the day and headed for the car. Hmm… the tires look a little too low to be driving in the mountains. Hmm.. this one doesn’t sound so good. But msh gets dressed and checks it out and says take the blue car. The other has a nail in the tire. Well, I’m out in the hills, driving up hill when I have this feeling that the car is going slower and the car is trying harder. I think it felt more like it was in neutral ready to go backwards. I couldn’t find the emergency flasher. Oh, no!! There aren’t lots of cars out there in the morning so I didn’t worry to much about being hit. I quickly found a spot to pull over and located the flashers. Then I checked my cell phone. I knew it, no bars. I was not going to make this appointment. My knowledge of car problems is not very extensive since our Hondas rarely have issues so I wasn’t sure if I should drive it or if that would damage anything. After reviewing the options I decided that it was mostly downhill so I would try and make it to phone service. Hallelujah! Several phone calls later I was on the road heading for the Honda dealer. I am not going to bore you with the rest of the day. Today the car is fixed and mine has nice new tires thanks to James and James my wonderful son and son in law.

These kind of stories are not really allowed on this page but I didn’t have time to make anything this week……..

Let’s see. Today I watched the sweet grandchildren, visited with a friend (who brought me a pretty wool sweater to shrink), made a batch of hummus, a caramel apple cake, and 4 loaves of six grain bread. It would have been seven grain but I couldn’t get soft wheat to grind anywhere (around here). Then I made a bunch of salsa with the tomatoes from the garden.

I got started working by after lunch. I had to help take the car to get fixed and get a rental for Rob. Then we ran a couple quick errands. Time flies!! Then I took 3 long phone calls, worked on orders, etc. And researched online curriculum resources. And checked facebook. The day is gone. It is already tomorrow.

No pictures today. I did pick nectarines and make a batch of jam. I think I prefer the less sugar variety. The sweetest guy I know escorted me to Walmart to get more pectin and sugar at 10:30. I think I will wait til tomorrow to make more jam. Its a little late tonight.
I would like to can apple sauce and tomato sauce. I'll let you know if that happens.

Now I am watching a movie. I'm sure you've heard of Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus.

Well, I decided to keep track of fun things I get to do now that I don't have to work so much.
Kind of like a journal. Today I started getting the kitchen ready for September. I began by cleaning out under the sink. You might be wondering how I got started on that. I was looking for my red dish soap. I found it along with all kinds of cleaning supplies dating back to 1995 at least. So I had a clean out fest I washed my kitchen windows inside and out. I really like clean windows. I got rid of some of the plants that moved into my window sill while I was too busy to care. I decided on red and yellow for my apple time colors this year.

After working in the kitchen I peeled apples and made an apple blackberry crunch. I substituted apple and blackberries for rhubarb. That reminds me of the rhubarb yogurt we ate in Scotland. I wish we could buy that here.

I also got my wonderful husband to cut two boards for my old picture frames. I painted them with chalkboard paint. They are going to be little chalkboards for my office.

Yesterday I finally cut up one of my shrunk wool sweaters to make a purse. In the car I sewed the handles and sewed the main bag together. If I get time tomorrow I may take pictures for my next blog.

There's one potholder. Not necessarily for Christmas.

Some pretty silver pieces. Fifteen cents each! The footed bowl was black! The jar was for Rob to make a terrarium in. We saw beautiful terrariums in large jars at the Smith & Hawkins Store but the jars were too expensive. So this was just two dollars.
